The Love Buffet

We spend so much time dreaming of Love or agonizing over it. What woud we have if we took that away? Maybe just a little more quality time.

Girl meets boy. They get together. It doesn't work out. Bounce back.
         I've been fed the usual fairy tales, dreamed of that Prince Charming. But when perceptions change, that's when you realize that you're growing up. And that's a good thing.
          Thanks to lectures on feminism, I'm through with the double standards of society. I'm not here though, to start a male- bashing campaign. It's just that when I go for someone, I don't want it to be the traditional, ordinary way. And if it doesn't work out- well, it's not the end of the world.
            The way I see it, love is like a buffet table. You look around, take what looks interesting, try it out and on your second round you already know what you want. What's good and what's not. But this is what I'm vexed about. Sometimes we keep sticking to the bad dishes hoping that they get better. We end up with our hearts broken ( we're talking about love now), because we find it hard to accept that what we feel for a person may not be love at all, or that that person may actually be bad for us. We have such set (and romantic!) ideas about love and what it should be that it's hard for us to let things be. We want so much for things to work out. Most of us become hopeless romantics and passionate in the wrong way and about the wrong things. I had been bruised a couple of times myself. But when I say I'm pragmatic about love now, it doesn't mean that I don't dream about shooting stars and weak knees. I do. I just don't want to sell myself short.
   
       So when someone comes along and it doesn't work out, you don't have to be afraid. Time is a precious thing. Why waste it on the lackluster, moping over something that didn't pan out? Why waste it on brokenness when we have the chance to meet someone who can make us whole again? Of course every one needs time to grieve when they lose something - like a relationship-but one must not overdo it. There's so melodrama - even if it may be tempting after a break up.
   
      Someone once said " There's no second chances in a single moment", I share her zeal for the present. I don't want to let days slip away. Life has so much to offer us if we only see with the heart. There's no time to dwell on difference, misery, and regrets. I find reason to set out and live my life even as I am searching for that perfect "dish" ( and no, this is not a lame excuse to see other boys or a mere bouncing-back-after-a-heartbreak-campaign).
   
     My purpose is simple. I want to reach out to those who feel the mundaneness of life without the heart. Find your heart and set forth. Life may deal you a harsh hand sometimes, but bounce back. The world is waiting. :-)

A Chocolate Cure?

We're a long way from hearing," Take twp chocolates and call me in the morning", but it might happen someday. A recent study found that theobromine, a chemical in chocolate, was more effective in treating coughs than  codeine, an ingredient in some cough medicine. Subjects were given a 1000mg. theobromine tablet. That's the equivalent of about five dark chocolate bars, or over 420 kilojoules! More research is needed, says researcher Omar Usmani, but the results are interesting. These findings highlight the remedies waiting to be found in other natural substances", he says. We can't treat chocolate as medicine, but if you have a cough, a small piece won't hurt.

Guidelines for Readable Writing

- I decided to Post this because this really help me, ( to be honest, I'm really not good in english and because of this, I learned a lot.)

- Use simple and familiar words and phrases, such as "improve" instead of "ameliorate" and "like" instead of "in a manner similar to that of". These ease te reader's task, and make comprehension more likely.

- Use personal pronouns such as"you" and "them", if style permits. These help the receiver relate to the message.

- Use short sentences and pharagraph.. You want to express your thoughts efficiently. Avoid excessive conjunctions and divide long paragraphs.

- Use active verbs, such as "The manager decided. . . " rather than "The manager came to the conclusion that. . ." Active words carry more impact.


- Use only necessary words. For example, in the sentence "Bad weather conditions served to prevent my trip," the word "condition" is not needed and "served to prevent" can be shortened. Say, " Bad weather prevent my trip."

Election Fever

It's my first time to vote this May election and to be honest, I feel stuck in a rut from all the stories and intrigues surrounding the presidentiables. We're told to be cautious of false promises and petty arrogant fights, yet I still can't figure it out-who is telling the truth among all of them? So I began to do my research.
Across the room, I saw my uncle and aunt reading the newspaper as they always do in the morning. I figured, " They know current events and we share more or less the same principles in life, who better to ask but them, right?" and so I did. I was able to get the scoop on how the past presidents were... since that time it was their first time to vote.
they talked about how we were so close to being the " Tiger of Asia" until the peso drastically dropped during the political instability of the first EDSA Revolution. That until now, we are still covering from the trillions in debt that started at that time. In short, they told me to choose a leader who will bring the country to it's financial stability.
With this in mind, I decided to check the newspaper myself. I was fascinated by other people's opinions about who should win-whether through experience or sheer popularity. I thought, to be a leader, it's important to be known but it is more important to be a doer. I made a mental note to choose a leader who has the best platform, but more importantly, who'll be able to act in his promises. It pays to know what candidates stand for, and if they have the will to follow through, despite the "politics" that surround them.
Flipping through the channels on the TV, I chose to watch the local news that was on. I saw how much traveling was involved in the campaign of each candidate across the country. Realizing how much time and effort they spent in their planning and actual campaign, I stumbled upon another important factor to consider-involvement. A leader should be involved in every issue, aware of what's happening in every place in the country, and not just being used as puppet by others. It's a form of reaching out and doing one's responsibility as a leader.
Later in the day, I accompanied my aunt to the mall. On my way, I couldn't help but stare at the posters and banners hanging everywhere-from buses to jeepneys to billboards to walls. I also couldn't stop thinking of the wide scope of area those leaders will be responsible for. To vote for a nation's leader, I need to be able to trust him or her for my sake and that of my fellow citizens. It's not a joke to be in charge of millions of people. It was ironic to see beggars and homeless people staying under these posters and banners. They are the ones whose lives are really on the line, depending on how well the future leaders of this country react to their needs. It also takes humanitarian heart to bring hope and change in the lives of these people.
When we go out there to vote, let's just remember these letters: F-A-I-T-H, F- financila stability, A- action, I- involvement, T- trust, H- humanitarian. As the word faith implies, choose a leader who has faith in both GOD and his countrmen. So who is telling the truth among all of them? Don't be swayed by pretty pictures, big promises and flashy slogans. Do it the way I did. Do your own research.. :D

A Big Event of my College Life...

I decided to blog this not on the day it was happened because I was really stressed and I'm trying to be calm to avoid depression about what had happened on our school-kodigo-issue-so-so...


Now, this is the story...

Around 9:45 am, I went to our school's CBET dean's office to check out my grades, it was happened that my 2 classmates was also there but they can't approach our professor coz they were shy, so, I was the one to approach our professor and ask how's my grades. My grades were quiet good, but my 2 classmates had a problem regarding their grades. Dahil nandun na din kami, pinag- check na rin kami ng mga tests papers namin. My professor gave me the original key to correction at ung isa kong classmate sinulat niya yung sa sagot sa paper para di na kami mahirapan mag-share at para mapabilis ang aming pagche- check.. After checking those papers, we left it to the table and my 2 classmate were discussing to our professor about their grades..


THE NEXT DAY (KINABUKASAN)
- nagulat na lang ako sa balita na may leak daw na nagbigay ng sagot sa kabilang section, and so it bothers me, kasi kaming 3 lang naman ang nag- check ng test papers. So, kinausap ako ng professor namin ayun, kinuwento nga niya sa akin ang kanyang investigation regarding the leakage..

PROF: may leakage daw tungkol dun sa test ng kabilang section na may nagbigay sa kanila ng sagot..

AKO: kila T_B_ _IS_ _ po?

PROF: oo dun, ngayon kayo lang talo nila "chorva" at "chenez" ang nag-check.. may nagsulat ba sa inyo ng sagot?

AKO: yes sir, si "chorva" po..

PROF: ayun! may nakalabas pla na sgot.. hinala ko nga si "chorva" ung nagbigay ng sagot sa kbilang section kasi may mga friends daw sya dun.. yun..

AKO: speechless.


Around 3:45 pm in the entrance garden of our school

- my aka "friend" and I were together... so, I accidentaly tell her what had happened about the kodigo-issue, so, i tell her the whole story..

This is the way i say it:

AKO: uy, lam mo ba, kinausap ako ni sir, regarding dun sa test ng kabilang section, ayon daw sa investigation ni sir, may nagbigay daw ng sagot dun sa section na yun, ngayon HINALA ni sir si "chorva" daw yung nagbigay ng sagot kasi may mga friends sya dun... Isip- isip ko, bakit ko naman bibigay yung sagot? eh, hindi naman ako papayag na mas mataas sila kaysa sa akin diba?!

MARCH 30, 2010 THE BIG EVENT.. THE SISIHAN, TURUAN, PLASTIKAN PORTION..
-nalaman na ng kabilang section yung tungkol sa pangongodigo nila, so syempre shock sila... So, wala na akong care on what happened sa kabilang section. Hanggang biglang nagtext sa akin si"churva" ito text niya: "ANGELA, ANU YUN., BKIT TAU ANG PINAGBIBINTANGAN NA NG BIGAY N SAGOT, SA KABILANG SECTION.... PUTIK SINU BANG CAN_ _ _ O NA YAN BGAY MU NGA # NIA SKEN.. WLNG HIYA SYA AH.. [SO, YAN YUN]so, wala pa akong paki pinagtanggol ko pa si CAN_ _ _ O ..

HAPON Around 5:45pm kagigising ko lang

-tnnxt ulit ako ni "churva" tinatanung niya bakit ko daw pinagkalat na siya yung nagbigay ng sagot sa kabilang section..[which is not true!] So, I asked her kung sino ang nagbigay ng impormasyong ganun sa kanya.. To my dismay, ang nagsabi sa kanya ay ang so - called "friend" ko si CAN_ _ _O So, anu reaction mo? GALIT diba? ok lang plastikin ka kung tama yung info na bnigay eh.. paano ko kinalat?? e hindi nga alam ng mga classmate ko yung issue dun, tanging siya lang ang nakaka-alam!

kaya yun, nagkagulo na
para lang makaiwas siya sa gulo,she pointed me out! thanks for being my TRUE nga bang FRIEND... and the worst, talagang mali ang info eh...parang ang lumalabas ako pa ang mali..!

Well, I just want to end this here.. I just want to clarify things na wala akong kinalaman sa pagkakalat... Hindi naman ako press para magkalat ng news... And i'm a busy person para pansinin ang mga bagay na walang sense...
